FlowerSong Press presents: Cuban Poets at the Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival 2026
From April 23–26, we celebrated the power of poetry beyond borders with the special participation of remarkable voices from Cuba, joining us virtually through audiovisual presentation at the 19th Annual Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival.
— YEILÉN DELGADO CALVO (Matanzas, 1990) – Award-winning writer and poet, author of La ingratitud de predicar and Todas las bestias de la tierra.
— VERÓNICA ALEMÁN CRUZ (Havana, 1989) – Writer and cultural journalist whose work reflects and defends contemporary Cuban identity.
—SINECIO VERDECIA DÍAZ (Havana, 1974) – Performance poet and director of the Casa de la Poesía, blending music, oral tradition, and verse.
— KAREL LEYVA FERRER (Santiago de Cuba, 1975) – Internationally recognized poet and cultural promoter, coordinator of the Havana Poetry Festival.
Their voices cross the sea to met us in the Rio Grande Valley, building a bridge of words between Cuba and our community.
